This commercial project produced a modernist white box space that, as anyone who has attempted modernism knows, is anything but easy, simple, or inexpensive. In the end, the result was a resounding success, and the store’s design truly matched the innovative garments that it was intended to showcase. The monkey wrench was replacing the historic storefront and still managing to maintain an air of modernism in a turn of the century Soho loft building, a feat, subtle to the point of silence, yet even a slight failure would have shouted “incompetence” for all (which, of course, never occurred).
