This gut renovation attempted to insert a sensual palate of materials & spaces into a rather banal strip mall while balancing the modernist high tech program requested in this Asian themed restaurant space. The cuisine reflected this concept all come together to tightly incorporate food decor & ambiance, Who would have expected this next to an Autozone a Panera breadbasket, The cuisine matches the concept as classic dishes are prepared with modern touches. Two wooden cubes anchor the space. The space was metaphorically and physically modeled on the abstraction of the Ying/Yang, the symbol of oppositional duality. This philosophy plays out in the execution, use of the material, and plan symmetry.
